In loving memory of Tom de Beer

Born 12 November 2004 – Returned to the light 10 February 2023

This space was created with love — and with the quiet courage that grief calls forth in us.

What began as a way to survive loss slowly became a path of healing, connection, and learning how to live again.

Everything I offer comes from that journey — from the understanding that even in the hardest moments, there can still be peace, stillness, and moments of light.

Tom

Each offering, every word, is a soft companion for those walking the path of loss, longing, or change.Whether your heart is newly broken or quietly carrying its story, you are welcome here.

You are not alone. You are held. And you are deeply loved. With every breath we take, we honour those we miss and the love that still remains. Tom was sunshine in human form — playful, brave, kind, and wise beyond his years. He loved the ocean and adventures of all kinds. His heart was vast, his laughter and hugs unforgettable.

Though his physical journey ended too soon, his presence continues to guide and inspire every step of my work.

“Not all those who wander are lost.”— J.R.R. Tolkien Tom’s favourite words.

Always guiding me.

Hi, I am Abby

Founder of The Zen Collective.

My work is rooted in creating calm, supportive spaces where people can slow down, breathe, and reconnect with themselves. Through yoga, Reiki, meditation, and gentle nervous system practices, I help people find steadiness during times of stress, change, or emotional overwhelm.

I have been working in the fitness and wellness industry since 2009, and over the years my path has evolved from high-energy training environments into a more mindful, restorative approach to movement and healing. I have been teaching yoga since 2017 and hold a 500-hour Yoga Teacher certification, along with qualifications as a Reiki Master, Hypnotherapist, and Bach Flower Remedy Practitioner. I have also trained in mindfulness, grief support, and nervous system regulation, and I am especially drawn to practices that help people feel safe, grounded, and at ease in themselves.

My work became much deeper after the passing of my youngest son, Tom. That experience changed the way I see life, healing, and what it means to truly support another human being. I no longer believe in quick fixes. I believe in presence, kindness, and giving the body and mind the space they need to find balance again.

The Zen Collective was created as a place where all of these approaches can come together — a calm, welcoming space for movement, rest, healing, and connection. Whether you come for a yoga class, a Reiki session, a workshop, or simply a moment to breathe, you are welcome exactly as you are.

I am based in Langebaan in the Western Cape, where I run The Zen Collective at Life’s Secret Garden, and I also work with small groups, private clients, and retreats.

Edwina

I have been to a few yoga teachers and when I decided to go to Abby because she was walking distance, it was the best decision ever. She is always calm and smiling and she is very patient with her students. I am 61 and I always felt better after her class.
